Frequently Asked Questions
How do Sunless Tanning Products Work?

The active ingredient in sunless tanning products is DHA (dihroxyacetone).  A colorless sugar, DHA interacts with the proteins in the outer layer of your skin to produce a golden brown color.  Gone are the days of orange tones associated with self tanning products.  Our solutions are designed to look natural on all skin tones and types, the color is perfect!

Why is Sunless Airbrush Tanning the Best Tanning Option?

The airbrush is a precision instrument that allows for a smooth, flawless application.  Spray booths have little control over the product's flow and where it will land on the body.  Tanning via the sun or any type of tanning bed causes harmful damage to the skin and will lead to premature aging and fine lines.

How Long will my Sunless Tan Last?

Your tan will last 5-7 days and can last longer if you follow the before and after care instructions.  A sunless tan fades just like a tan from the sun.  As your body naturally exfoliates itself, your tan will fade.  Proper hydration and care is key to maximum longevity.

How Long will my Appointment Take?

Your airbrush tanning session will take approximately 30 minutes.  Upon arrival your tanning technician will discuss different shade options and the tanning process takes about 20 minutes.

What do I Wear to my Tanning Session?

Female clients over the age of 18 can wear whatever you feel comfortable wearing and may choose to tan topless or naked.  Clients under the age of 18 must wear a bathing suit or undergarments unless they have signed parent approval.  Male clients must wear a swimsuit or underwear.

Please be assured that we are professionals and will make every effort to accommodate your needs and make you feel as comfortable as possible, whatever you choose to wear.

What if I have VERY fair skin?  Will I still look natural?

Mist carries a variety of tanning solutions and our technicians are highly experienced working  with all skin types and colors.  For the most natural results, we suggest choosing a lighter shade your first visit, then gradually try darker shades until you reach your optimal color.

Is it Safe?

Yes.  DHA has been approved by the FDA for use in the personal care industry for years.  No adverse effects have been reported other than mild skin irritation on allergic people.  Allergic reactions are extremely rare and can usually be eliminated by showering.  Although no problems have been reported, we recommend that pregnant women discuss airbrush tanning with their doctors prior to their session.
